Cricket and Bollywood have always had a huge space in the fans' hearts. Whenever these two come together, it always makes for a huge crowd-puller. Yet another Bollywood-Cricket collaboration might be on the cards. Former India legend and 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has been reported to make a cameo in Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Quereshi starrer "Double XL".
Dev isn't a part of the cast; instead, the Haryana Hurricane will be seen playing himself. According to Bollywood Hungama, a production source revealed, "Yes, Kapil Dev will be seen in the film. However, he isn’t featured as one of the cast members. Instead, the legendary veteran cricketer will be seen playing himself."
The source went on to discuss Dev's role in Double XL, saying, "Huma Qureshi’s character in Double XL wants to be a sports presenter, and Kapil Dev features as the sports person she gets a chance to interact with and interview."
As for the film, Double XL is about two women who are fighting their way through life while embracing body positivity and celebrating female friendship. The film aims to dismantle the size stigma that has persisted in society for generations.
The story revolves around two plus-size women, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from urban New Delhi, who support each other in their pursuits. Satram Ramani will direct the film, which will be released on November 4, 2023.
Now is the time India needs him: Kapil Dev on Rishabh Pant
Coming back to Kapil Dev, the former fast bowling all-rounder believes Rishabh Pant should be given a chance to replace Dinesh Karthik following his questionable wicket-keeping performance in the first three games of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
"I want to say that since we have Rishabh Pant, now is the time India needs him. It felt as if Dinesh Karthik would get the job done, but factoring in the wicketkeeping as well, I feel that if India has that left-hander option in the team, this team would look complete," Dev said while speaking to ABP news.
