Kavya Maran, the face of Sunrisers Hyderabad at Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions on her team's behalf, is a regular visitor to her team's matches and never hesitates to show her emotions from the stands. The Hyderabad-based franchise's co-owner attended Match 10 of the IPL 2023 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, where Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took on SRH. However, she did not have a pleasant evening in Lucknow, as her team was thrashed by 5 wickets.

SRH won the toss and elected to bat first, but their batters struggled to get going on a sluggish surface where spinners ruled the contest. Anmolpreet Singh and Mayank Agarwal tried to give their team a solid start, but the latter was dismissed in the third over, and the team has since taken a defensive approach. Aiden Markram, their newly appointed captain, returned to the side yesterday but did not get much time to spend on the crease as Krunal Pandya dismissed the South African for a golden duck.

Krunal steals the show with his all-round performance

Krunal wreaked havoc on the SRH batting line-up with three wickets, while veteran spinner Amit Mishra took two wickets to restrict their opponents to 121 runs. Kavya Maran was dissatisfied with the performance of the SRH batters, and her sad expression caught the attention of the camera.

Defending a below-par total, the SRH blowers should have given their all, but that wasn't the case as there were too many extra runs (17) on offer for Lucknow. Krunal (23 off 34) was at his best yesterday night, as the all-rounder contributed with his batting as well. Nicholas Pooran, who remained unbeaten on 11 off 6, sealed LSG's second victory of the season with a six over square leg.

However, the 30-year-old Maran was overjoyed in the second innings of the match when their impact player Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed the dangerous Kyle Mayers in the fifth over. But her smile didn't last long as the LSG batters slowly took the game away from the former champions.
