'Just ended up listening' - AB de Villers shares his experience of meeting with Sachin Tendulkar

In what was a union of two batting greats, Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers had a great time together and the two indulged in a lot of quality conversations. The former South Africa skipper is in India at present. He is coming to the country after a year. The last time he played here he ended his Indian T20 League career in 2021 finishing with the Bangalore franchise.

He met the management of the Bangalore franchise ahead of the Indian T20 League auction for 2023 that is slated to take place in December. The South African great in the past has expressed his wishes to join back the Bangalore franchise this year and there is a buzz that he could comeback as a mentor.

On Monday morning, AB de Villiers took to Instagram to share a post, where he was bubbling with excitement for meeting Tendulkar. He praised Sachin via the caption.

“Bottled up with excitement as I wait to meet with @sachintendulkar . He’s always been someone I look up to. The way he carried himself on and off the field during his playing days was nothing short of incredible! Since his retirement nothing has changed and he still inspires millions around the world, including me," the former South Africa captain wrote.

AB de Villers loved the interaction with Sachin Tendulkar

Later in the day, the two legends met for a shoot where De Villers post gave a hint that it was an interview. De Villers was supposed to interview Tendulkar but that took the back seat as he ended up only listening to the master blaster.

“So I ended spending a few hours with this man today. Thought I was sort of gonna interview him, but ended up just listening and taking it all in. What an experience. Thanks for your time “Master Blaster”@sachintendulkar," he wrote.

De Villers has had a stellar Indian T20 League career for the Bangalore franchise where he has scored 4522 runs in 157 matches. He had a 11 year long association with Bangalore which was a match made in heaven.
