The third day of the ongoing fifth Test between India and England was once again full of action, as the battle between the two sides got intense. England began Day 3 on the score of 84/5 with Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes at the crease. Right from the word go, the plan from the English batters was to attack the bowlers and score runs quickly. But the Indian seamers were relentless and were not giving an inch to the English batters.

Seeing the seamers dominating the English batters, Virat Kohli decided to sledge Bairstow, who was setting his eye in having scored 12 off 65 balls. The former Indian captain was heard saying “A bit faster than Southee, eh?” during the crossovers between the overs. Bairstow further replied something to Kohli as he suggested him to just ‘shut up and bat’. The exchange got heated between the two and the umpires had to intervene and calm the two players down.

The incident seemed to fire up Bairstow as he launched his usual ‘all-out’ attack on the Indian bowlers clobbering boundaries after boundaries with ease as he notched up his 11th century of his career. He was finally dismissed for 106 off 140 balls scoring the fastest hundred against India in Tests since 2016.

Talking about the action on Day 3 after the day’s play Kohli for his passion on the field.

"You can see the passion that Virat Kohli plays with every single time and he takes the field and that's what makes him. And his character's such a big one in the game,” said Bairstow after the end of the day's play.

Bairstow further said that there’s no love lost between the two star cricketers as they were full of passion giving it all for their respective countries out there.

"We're very lucky to be out there playing because that's why we play the game, isn't it? Two very competitive people out on the field doing what they love. And that's why we play the game. You've got 11 guys on each side that are very passionate to do so well for their country,” he added.
