Jasprit Bumrah returns, Rinku Singh debut- All you need to know about India vs Ireland T20 series

India will be up against Ireland for the three-match T20I series after facing the defeat against West Indies in the last series by 2-3. The Men in Blue will be without their regular faces as many first-choice players have been rested. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side, and Ruturaj Gaikwad will be his deputy in the fixtures. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 star, Rinku Singh is likely to receive his maiden Indian team cap in this tour. 

The squad consists of a second-string team since many of the first-choice players have been rested or recovering from injuries. Apart from Bumrah, the squad includes Ruturaj (vice-captain), Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku, and Prasidh Krishna. Pacer Prasidh Krishna will be returning to the International circuit after a gap of 11 months. 

It is likely to be an important series for two Indian pacers, Bumrah and Prasidh keeping in mind Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 are around the corner. This India tour will be the second time in recent times as in 2022 Hardik Pandya-led side won the two-match 20-overs fixture by 2-0.

On India’s 77th Independence Day, 2023, Bumrah posted a picture from the flight, where he and other team members were taking off to Ireland for the 20-over format series. Interestingly the picture went viral on social media after the 29-year-old shared it. It is pertinent to mention that the right-arm pacer has taken 121 wickets in 72 ODIs till this date, along with an average of 24.3, he played his last fixture against Australia in September 2022.
