Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the South Africa series reportedly due to a back stress fracture. The reports further claimed that the talismanic bowler might be ruled out of the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. Amid all these unconfirmed reports on his injury, Rahul Dravid, the Indian coach was among the first to clarify that the pacer cannot be ruled out for the mega tournament in Australia.
A new report has now emerged claiming that the 28-year-old has sustained only a back stress reaction and not a back fracture. This means that Bumrah might get fit right before the 20-20 World Cup 2022, enabling him to board the flight to Australia.
Fans were already anguished by the fact that the Indian brigade led by Rohit Sharma will board the flight in the absence of senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Just as they were about to get out of that news, the report on Bumrah’s injury shook Indian cricket and its fans.

Bumrah’s injury rocked the Indian fan base who were desperate for his participation in the mega event in Australia. A source from the Indian cricket board has clarified the injury claiming that it was only a stress reaction and not a fracture.
“Scans by the Indian cricket board medical team at the National Cricket Academy (in Bangalore) have revealed that it's not a stress fracture, but 'stress reaction', which is one step less than a stress fracture. It takes 4-6 months to recover from a stress fracture, but normally only about 4-6 weeks to recover from a stress reaction,” the source was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Further, the source revealed that the decision on the pacer’s inclusion might be taken on October 15, eight days prior to India’s first game of the tournament against Pakistan. “If a squad member is injured between 16th September (initial submissions) and start of the support period (October 15), they can be replaced without going through the Event Technical Committee,” the source was quoted as saying.
