Indian Premier League (IPL) prodigy Rinku Singh is shining for Team India in his debut series, he was awarded Player of the Match for his 38 (21) in the second T20I, whereas Jasprit Bumrah-led side won the game by 33 runs and now has an invincible lead of 2-0. At the start of the play, Ireland skipper Paul Stirling won the toss and opted to field first, visitors posted 185/5 in 20 overs. 

Now, putting the picture of the Indian innings together, India lost the early wicket in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal for 18 (11) in the fourth over. Ruturaj Gaikwad held the innings; he came as an opener and batted till the 16th over of the game, scoring 58 (43) and also remaining the highest scorer of the innings. Gaikwad was accompanied by Sanju Samson with his 40 (26) and later overs, Rinku and Shivam Dube’s 22 of 16 balls took India to over 180 in 20 overs.

Whereas in the chase, Prasidh Krishna bowled a superb opening spell, picking up two wickets in his opening over. Lorcan Tucker and Paul Stirling were dismissed as the Irish side, after the end of three overs, was on 19 for 2. The opening batter, Andy Balbirnie, was the lone warrior as he remained till the 16th over and was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh for 72 (51). Whereas Ireland only managed 152/8 in 20 overs as Bumrah, Ravi Bishnoi, and Krishna picked two wickets each. 

In the end, Singh’s inning reminded everyone of his fame and glory to knock, which brought him into the limelight when, in the IPL 2023, batting for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he smashed five sixes in the last over to chase down the target. In the last game, it was like refreshing memories of IPL 2023 to see the left-handed batter smashing bowlers, Rinku smashed Barry McCarthy in the 19th over, as he smashed two sixes and one boundary in that over. Now Ireland will take on the last 20-over format game in Dublin on August 23.

I still feel it’s too early to give break seeing IPL records. Many youngsters debut post IPL and vanish after some int matches. Players should be tested and winners at various level before national berth. It seems difficult to find players with long career and winning history.
