Indian cricket is currently brimming with talent. With a sea of young players coming through every year, the future of cricket in India looks very bright. One such player whose star is starting to shine brighter is Yashasvi Jaiswal. Coming from a very humble background, the Uttar Pradesh-born batter has forced his name into the records books with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and SM Kadri.

Playing for Mumbai in the Ranji semi-finals against Uttar Pradesh, the Southpaw hit two centuries in both innings to become only the ninth batter to achieve this massive feat. The under-19 World Cup winner made 100 in the first and 181 in the second to get into the elusive record. The list already had nine Mumbai batters like Sachin Tendulkar, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wasim Jaffer and others.

The Uttar Pradesh-born batter has lived in Mumbai for most of his life and started playing for the Ranji team after his great run of form in other cricket formats. Currently, the left-handed player is playing against Uttar Pradesh in the second Ranji Semi-final.

Speaking of the Semi-final, Mumbai scored 393 in the first innings on the back of a Jaiswal 100 and 115 from Hardik Tamore. In reply, the Uttar Pradesh team was bowled out for a mere, 180 with the trio bowlers of Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Avasthi and Tanush Kotian taking three wickets each. The Mumbai team were even better in the second innings with Prithvi Shaw making a quickfire 64 before Jaiswal and Arman Jaffer created a century knocks of their own. Jaiswal with 181 got into the history books while Jaffer took a big step towards a career akin to his uncle Wasim Jaffer.

Mumbai are all set to meet the winner of Madhya Pradesh and Bengal in the final of this season Ranji. In that match, Bengal are 254 runs behind with 6 wickets and one day left of the match.
