India have been one of the undisputed teams in Test cricket at home since 2012, and their dominance in spin is the primary reason. Over the years, India has produced many great spin bowlers like Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Bishan Singh Bedi, Ravichandran Ashwin and others. However, a former Pakistan cricketer aimed at India's spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal and categorized them as the worst Indian spinners.
Jadeja is an irreplaceable star and his all-round performance is a huge asset to Team India in every format. He has also been India's backbone in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he has taken 18 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls, in the first two Tests against Australia. The left-hander is currently ranked No. 1 in the Test all-rounder rankings and No. 9 in the Cricket Governing Body's Test bowling rankings.
Chahal, on the other hand, has been a matchwinner on several occasions with his brilliant spells and is India's highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket, with 91 dismissals from 75 matches. The right-arm leg-spinner also has picked up 121 wickets in 72 ODI matches for India.
Ex-Pak cricketer Abdur Rahman on Indian spin duo
However, these statistics did not bother former Pakistan cricketer Abdur Rahman as he picked Jadeja and Chahal as "horrible" blowers. Speaking on the YouTube channel "Nadir Ali Podcast", Rahman was asked who is the worst Indian spinner. The left-handed batter's first reply was that "No spinner is bad if he plays for his country." But when insisted by the host to name a player, he remarked that Jadeja was a "pathetic bowler" early in his career and only became a great bowler under the guidance of former India captain MS Dhoni. Rahman then hailed Chahal as a "horrible" bowler and said any batter can hit him easily.
"Jadeja jab shuru mein aya tha woh fariq spinner tha (When Jadeja had started his career, he was a pathetic bowler). Under MS Dhoni's captaincy, he was prepared in such a way that he is now a No.1 bowler. Chahal is also a horrible bowler. You can hit him easily. There is no force in his deliveries and cannot spin the ball much. Lambe race ka ghoda nehi hai," he said.
When further asked by Nadir Ali which team (India vs Pakistan) has the best spin attack, Abdur Rahman chose his own country, no wonder! Rehman has played for Pakistan in all formats. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler and left-handed batsman announced his retirement from international cricket in October 2018.
