Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder for Team India, disagrees with Kapil Dev's assertion that the Indian Premier League (IPL) and money have made modern players conceited. Such inquiries, in Jadeja's opinion, arise after India loses one or two games.

During an interview recently published by The Week magazine, Kapil said that the current crop of Indian cricketers appeared to have developed a sense of entitlement due to their high salaries. He said that they appeared to believe they knew everything.

Jadeja was questioned about Kapil's comments at the pre-match press conference prior to the third One-Day International against West Indies. He said, “I didn’t know when he said this. I don’t search too many things on social media. Everyone has their own opinion. It’s nothing like that. Everybody is enjoying their game and working hard. Players are not taking their place in the team for granted. Whenever they are getting chances, they are giving their 100 per cent and trying to win games for India."

Such questions crop up when India loses a game: Ravindra Jadeja

The former Chennai Super Kings skipper spoke about why these comments or queries arise with Indian cricket. He said, “Such questions crop up when India loses a game. Nobody is arrogant. Everybody is representing India. We are working hard and playing for the country. There is no personal agenda.”

The batting all-rounder spoke about the responsibility on the players ahead of a busy year ahead. He said, “Obviously there is responsibility. Performing in a major tournament is a dream of any player. The Asia Cup and World Cup are coming up. I will keep working hard and try to improve in areas where I can do better. I will also work on my fitness so that on the ground I can give my 100 per cent. I will definitely take the responsibility that the team has given me.”

As one of the team's more experienced players, Jadeja has a great deal riding on his performance in important forthcoming competitions including the Asia Cup as well as the World Cup. The 34-year-old is eager to play up to the expectations the team has of him. He has been in excellent form in all formats and will be continuing to perform when the team requires him the most.
