India won the four-match Test series against Australia 2-1 after the final Test in Ahmedabad ended in a draw on Monday. The fourth Test lasted until the fifth day, but it lacked the excitement that cricket fans experienced in the first three Tests. Australia was trialled by 91 runs and scored 175-2 in their second innings before the teams agreed on a draw. However, the battle between the two teams will continue from June 7 as Rohit Sharma-led India will take on Pat Cummins-led Australia in the World Test Championship final.

Australia resumed Day 5 with Travis Head and Matthew Kuhnemann but the latter was trapped in front of the wickets by Ravichandran Ashwin. With opener Head and Marnus Labuschagne scoring half-centuries, the visitors put up a solid batting performance. Head looked set to smash his sixth Test century but was dismissed by Axar Patel on 90. Later, captain Steve Smith joined with Labuschagne to draw the Test.

India continues to dominate Australia

India won their 4th consecutive Border Gavaskar Trophy, marking a sheer dominance over Australia. This is also the 16th consecutive home Test series win for the Men in Blue. Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin were jointly awarded the Player Of The Series, while Virat Kohli won the Player Of The Match award after 41 months in Tests for his terrific knock of 186. Kohli is India's top scorer with 297 runs in this series, while Aussie opener Usman Khawaja tops the chart with 333 runs.

After winning his 10th Player of the Match in Tests, Virat Kohli said: "I am not here to prove anyone wrong here, I want to justify myself & score important runs for India. The talk was about to play positively when I was on 60* overnight, but we lost Shreyas Iyer due to injury. So the plan changed to not let the opposition sneak in."

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who scored a century on a spin-friendly pitch in Nagpur in the first Test, was praised by ex-cricketers. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said, "Rohit Sharma laid the platform of this BGT with his century in Nagpur". Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden rated Rohit's century in Nagpur as the best of this BGT.

In the post-match press conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said:

"It was a fantastic series. We do understand the importance of the series and the opposition. Lot of hard work has gone in to this. At Indore, we were put under the pressure and lost the game. lot of guys took up the responsibility and bailed us out. Test Cricket is hard fought cricket and isn't easy. I am quite satisfied. I know what kind of benchmark I have set for myself. I could've done a little better, but I keep personal milestones and focusing on team results."
