In the ODI World Cup 2023, India will be up against Pakistan in the group stage on October 14 after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed to reschedule the match. Earlier, the most anticipated clash was scheduled to take place on October 15, but due to security arrangements, it was shifted one day before.

However, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up a committee to decide their side's participation in the ODI World Cup 2023. This committee is set to meet on Thursday for final assurance, while the 14-member panel is headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) seeks government permission to participate in the marquee event.

Asia Cup 2023 hybrid model likely made PCB form a committee for ODI World Cup 2023

This whole saga of the committee after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) intervention in the Asia Cup, which was set to be hosted by Pakistan but now will be hosted in a hybrid model along with Sri Lanka, now that the Asia Cup 2023 is set to be co-hosted by the Island nation, has resulted in Pakistan getting only four games out of the 13 games to organize.

Whereas the panel set by PAK PM will not decide but rather send its recommendation before the decision. Interestingly, as per media reports, once the PCB gets clearance, they send a security panel to India to look at the venues for the ODI World Cup 2023, where Pakistan will play their matches.

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to take place from October 5 to November 19. It will be the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup, scheduled to be hosted solely in India for the first time. Ten teams will participate in the tournament, including the 2019 defending champions, England, whereas Scotland is set to feature in the marquee event for the fourth time. India hosted the ODI World Cup with other countries on the Indian subcontinent in 1987, 1996, and 2011.
