Virat Kohli, the Indian veteran, went through one of the toughest phases of his life before the Asia Cup 2022. The 33-year-old revealed that he kept his bat aside without touching it for almost a month. Reasonably so, the Indian legend played poorly before the continental tournament.

However, since Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli looks in decent touch and the batter even bagged a century in the tournament. Albeit he has had a couple of single-digit scores, the Indian veteran has been performing reasonably well. Former New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor has heaped praise on the Indian legend.

The Kiwi star praised the Indian legend and highlighted that the batter is peaking at the right time. Ross Taylor recalled his days with the Bangalore franchise in the Indian T20 League. The legend relived his initial days in the franchise with Virat Kohli. Further, the legendary Black Caps player wished the Indian great for his 20-20 World Cup 2022 campaign and hoped for more centuries in the upcoming years.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing with Virat Kohli at the Bangalore franchise and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching his career as well. Players go through form drops and I don't think enough has been made about COVID-19. COVID has impacted a lot of people in a lot of countries. Smith, and Williamson, had had their struggles during COVID. Everyone just puts it down to form, they are so used to them scoring runs but when players aren't going to train as much or play as much cricket, they would not be able to get into the groove," Ross Taylor said.

Virat Kohli coming back to form is no surprise: Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor further added that he wasn’t surprised by the return of the Indian great. He felt that Virat Kohli was in a good space and wished the batter to score more centuries in the future.

“Him coming back into form is no surprise to me, it was just a matter of when he scored that ton. He is in great form at the moment and he is peaking at the right time ahead of the World Cup. I think he looks like he is in a good space, he is going to score a lot of hundreds in the coming years, I hope,” Ross Taylor said in an interview with NDTV.

The former Black Caps player also praised Rahul Dravid and said that the team will flourish under him. He further added that the team might win the 20-20 World Cup 2022 under his guidance.

“Rahul Dravid is one of the nicest men I have met in cricket. I think in terms of Indian cricket, they are in very safe hands with Rahul Dravid. High integrity and great cricket knowledge and he knows what the modern player needs. With him at the wheel, there would be an ODI World Cup in India next year. They will definitely head into the tournament as one of the favourites," Ross Taylor concluded.
