The franchises of the Indian premier league are fast approaching the confirmation of the new coaching and other support staff for their upcoming season in 2024. Before the auctions could start for the next season, the franchises will have to name their coaches for the season. In turn, the Head coach will be crucial in the discussions about the retention of the players.

Lucknow Super Giants have already announced Justin Langer as their Head coach for the 2024 season, as their stint with Andy Flower came to an end. Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to part ways with the duo of Sanjay Bangar and Mike Hesson. As the franchises are making their announcements of retention or change of coaches, Sunrisers Hyderabad have also decided on their coaching staff.

The Hyderabad-based franchise is set to part ways with Brian Lara, who was their Head coach in the 2023 season. As a result, the owners of Sunrisers Hyderabad are now looking for a new Head coach. Hyderabad probably did not get what they wanted from Lara. Under the coaching of the former West Indian captain, Hyderabad finished last in the points table.

An underwhelming 2023 season of SRH

It was interesting to note that many experts predicted Hyderabad to be one of the contenders to win the title in the 2023 season. The squad had some fantastic talents. The batting lineup was tailor-made for a league like IPL. Unfortunately, the players could not step up and Hyderabad had a forgettable season at best. The underperformance of many players was rather unexpected. It might be the reason for Hyderabad to look for alternatives as a head coach.

While Lara was a great player in his time, he could not do justice to the role given to him by the management. With the recent history of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s coaches and mentors not being great, the fans would want to have a charismatic personality as their coach. The franchise needs someone who can be a bridge between the owners and the players.

RCB and SRH owners have come to realise that the core problem was with the coaches.
Poor squad selection, poor team selection and disrespecting senior/amazing players. Both the team managements have done this and the owners have come to realise it
