Texas Super Kings skipper Faf du Plessis took a splendid catch in match number 7 of the 2023 Major League Cricket against MI New York (MINY) to dismiss Tim David. MINY were in a clutch situation as they needed 21 runs off the last over chasing 155 runs. David tried to take on Daniel Sams in the first ball of the over but ended up mistiming the ball and Faf du Plessis did no mistake in taking a spectacular catch to give TSK the seventh breakthrough.

Talking about the match, TSk defeated when MINY by 17 runs to register their second win of the season in three matches. Batting first, TSK posted a total of 154 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, powered by the half-century Devon Conway. In reply, MINY were restricted to 137 runs in their 20 overs losing 8 wickets.

Wicket losses and partnerships shape TSK's innings

TSK lost their first wicket in the form of Faf du Plessis at 20 runs in 2.5 overs as his stumps were cleared by Kagiso Rabada. A few overs later, MI got a second breakthrough as the skipper Kieron Pollard sent Cody Chetty back to the pavilion. After that, Conway and David Miller took the innings further and put up a partnership of 54 runs for the third wicket.

Miller got out after scoring 17 runs off 15 balls before getting out in the 16th over. While, Conway scored 74 runs off 55 balls hitting eight fours and a maximum before Rashid Khan cleared his stumps in the 17th over. Mitchell Santner got out in the final over after playing a quickfire knock of 27 runs off 13 balls as TSK go past 150 runs. For MINY, Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada took 2-2 wickets, while Kieron Pollard and Rashid Khan shared a wicket each.

Chasing the winning total, MINY kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shayan Jahangir was the top scorer as he got out after scoring 41 runs off 38 balls hitting five boundaries. Apart from him, none of the batters could score big as MI fell short of 17 runs from TSK’s total. For TSK, Daniel Sams and Mohammad Mohsin took 2-2 wickets. While, Rusty Theron, Dwayne Bravo and Zia Ul Haq Muhammad.
