Sanju Samson has been doing the rounds on social media after he was left out in the second and third ODI against New Zealand after he scored 36 off 38 balls with four fours in the first ODI. He warmed the bench through the T20 leg of the tour before he played the first ODI.

When it came to the captains, Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan made their stance clear when it came to why Samson was not played and the reason given was that he did not fit into the plans of the Indian Team and that the Men in Blue needed an extra bowling option.

Former Pakistan bowler Danish Kaneria lashed out at the Indian Cricket Board for treating Samson in a very haphazard manner and he also talked about whether Samson was disliked by the board or the management or even the players. Kaneria compared Ambati Rayudu's situation from the past to Samson's current situation with India.

Rayudu's career also ended in a similar vein- Danish Kaneria

This is what he said on his YouTube Channel,  "Ambati Rayudu’s career ended similarly. He scored a lot of runs, but he also faced zyadti (excessiveness). The reason is The Indian Cricket Board and the selection committee’s internal politics. Is there liking or disliking among players?”. Notably, Rayudu’s career faded away after he was not selected for the 2019 World Cup.

“How much can a player tolerate? He already tolerates a lot and scores wherever he gets the opportunity. We might lose a good player because he faces the torture of selection and non-selection in the team. Everyone wants to see his strokes in extra-cover, cover, and especially pull shots,” he added.

Samson has not been selected for the ODIs against Bangladesh and so will go back to India after the series finishes. In 11 matches in ODIs, he has scored 330 runs at an average of 66 and at a strike rate of 104.76. He has also not got a consistent run in the 50-over format when it comes to the Indian Team. He has had a hard road till now.
