One of the most expensive players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Harry Brook had another flop innings this season as he dismissed for a two-ball duck against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 29. Apart from his century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Brook has not been able to perform well for his franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad, recording a series of low scores.
Brook batted in the middle order for the first few games, but his continuous failure caused SRH to promote him to the opening spot for the April 14 match against KKR. However, after registering the first hundred of the IPL 2023, the English batter struggled to find runs in the remaining matches, denying his team a strong powerplay.
The franchise kept faith in him, but he was demoted to the middle order in the ongoing encounter against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. However, the move did not help the former champions as the right-handed batter returned to the hut without troubling the scoreboard.
The visitors lost wickets in regular interval but thanks to Abhishek Sharma who scored a brilliant half-century to keep the run rate in check. Brooke came out to bat at a time when Abhishek needed someone to build a partnership with. But he mistimed a ball from Mitchell Marsh while trying to pull and ended up in the hands of Axar Patel at the mid-wicket region.

Fans recall Brook's savage reply after his century against KKR
Twitter is full of trolls for Brook who mocked the Indian fans after his century against KKR. The 24-year-old silenced his social media critics, claiming they heavily mocked him when he failed in his first few matches.
βI was putting pressure on myself a little bit after the first few games. You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. You start to doubt yourself a little bit. I just went out there with an βI donβt careβ mentality tonight and thankfully it came off. There are a lot of Indian fans out there whoβll say βwell doneβ tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up, to be honest," Brook said at the post match presentation of the SRH vs KKR match.
Meanwhile, on the back of Abhishek's 36-ball 67 and Heinrich Klaasen's 27-ball 53, SRH piled up a massive score of 197 runs. DC and SRH are currently at the bottom of the points table with four points and a win in this game will be crucial for them to stay active in the tournament.
Here's how fans reacted to Brook's yet another flop in IPL 2023:
