England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes is back in the ODI squad for World Cup 2023 as he overtook his retirement, while young batter, Harry Brook's name has been excluded from the tournament. The defending champions have announced a provincial 15-member squad for the marquee event, which is set to begin on October 5, as New Zealand will take on the Jos Butller-led side.
There are also some surprise exclusions, such as Brook and Jofra Archer, who did not find their names in the selected squad for the ODI World Cup. The European side has confirmed the revoking of Ben Stokes’ ODI retirement by selecting him in the squad that will face New Zealand next month. Stokes is likely to play as a batter in the upcoming ODI World Cup, as in the last three Ashes Tests he played as a specialist batter due to his knee injuries.
It is pertinent to mention that, Stokes retired from ODIs in July 2022; he then mentioned the Workload because of playing in all three formats. The star all-rounder played an important role to win the first 50-over format World Cup for England in the last edition. In the end, the 24-year-old Harry does not make the ODI squad, but he has found his place in the T20 squad against the Black Caps, along with Ben Duckett and Will Jacks.

He struggles against spin as we had already seen in the IPL so it's a very legitimate decision from my point of view.
