The Pakistan Team registered a five-wicket win over Bangladesh and confirmed their place in the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The Netherlands team however did Pakistan a favour by beating South Africa by 13 runs which turned the encounter against Bangladesh into a knock-out game.

After what transpired, it changed the outcome of the points table which led to former India cricketer Irfan Pathan taking a jibe at fans from  Pakistan via social media. This is what Irfan tweeted, “Padosiyon ke Twitter accounts sirf SUNDAY ke naam pe zinda hai. Love it. .”

When the tweet was put out, it created a storm on social media. Reacting to it, a fan said that The Pakistan Cricket team will not do well come the big games at the 20-20 World Cup, “Unko beizzat hone ke liye second chance mila hai. Uska woh bharpur fayida uthaenge. ,” read the tweet.

Pakistan had three wins from five games in the 20-20 World Cup 2022

Another user came in support of Irfan stating, “And that is a sharp inswinger sirji.”. There was a lot of banter as another user pointed out that “Final bhi Sunday ko hai bhai. .”

Pakistan had a horror start to the 20-20 World Cup 2022 as they lost a last-ball thriller to India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground by four wickets and then they lost another close encounter at Perth by one run to Zimbabwe. Their campaign changed when they beat Netherlands and South Africa by 5 wickets and 33 runs respectively.

The two semi-finals in the 20-20 World Cup will be played on October 8 and 9. The two fixtures are New Zealand vs Pakistan and India vs England which will be at Sydney and Adelaide respectively. The Final will be played in Melbourne on October 13. This has been a closely fought 20-20 World Cup with most of the matches going down to the wire.
