Indian Cricket Board president Roger Binny and Vice-president Rajeev Shukla have made a historic visit to Pakistan by crossing the Attari-Wagah border. The two departed to Pakistan from the Punjab’s airport in Amritsar. To attend the highly anticipated Asia Cup. This move has not only surprised many but also sparked a sense of excitement and curiosity among cricket enthusiasts on both sides of the border.
These two are invited to lunch in Lahore as representatives of the Indian Cricket Board, in order to celebrate Pakistan hosting the tournament. The decision to visit Pakistan for such a prestigious tournament is not merely about sports; it carries significant political and diplomatic implications. It symbolizes a step towards fostering better relations between India and Pakistan, two nations that have been marred by years of conflict and tension.
Rajeev Shukla addressing the media said, “This two-day visit is purely from the point of view of cricket, nothing political."
Roger Binny added, “I am looking forward to my visit since we’ve been to Colombo to see matches in Sri Lanka."
ACC to change the venues for super four matches played in Asia Cup 2023
Asia Cup 2023 should have been fully hosted by Pakistan as India refused to send their players to pakistan later it is jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. How ever Pakistan will only host four matches and the remaining matches are set to host by Sri Lanka in Pallekele and Colombo.
The Indian Cricket Management and ACC has come under heavy criticism for picking Sri Lanka to host the rest of the games due to the overcast weather conditions. The rains washed out the marquee clash between India vs Pakistan as well which disappointed many of the fans.
ACC is now thinking of shifting the venue from Colombo to Pallekele and Dambulla, this decision comes in light of the heavy rainfall that has plagued Colombo over the past few days. Even the match held today between India and Nepal was interrupted by the rain every now and then.
