The clash between India and Pakistan is always highly anticipated and holds immense importance for both teams. The rivalry between these two cricketing giants is legendary and every encounter between them is fiercely contested.

India has been dealt a major setback ahead of their highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2023 Asia Cup. Shreyas Iyer, a key player in the Indian lineup, has been ruled out of the match due to fitness concerns. This news was revealed by skipper Rohit Sharma during the toss at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Rohit lost the toss and India will be batting first, as Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam opted to field first. Rohit Sharma during the toss said that Shreyas has back spasm. This means KL Rahul who is back for his injury and fit to play will replace him and Ishan Kishan will keep his place in the team. 

KL Rahul's comeback and expectations

However, it is not all doom and gloom for India as they welcome back Jasprit Bumrah into the playing XI. Bumrah had missed the previous game against Nepal but his return will provide a much-needed boost to India's bowling department.

Despite Iyer's absence, India will be determined to put up a strong performance against their arch-rivals. The team will need to rely on their collective strength and find suitable replacements to fill Iyer's void. With players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma leading from the front, India still possesses a formidable batting lineup that can challenge any opposition.

Returning from injury that required surgical intervention, KL Rahul recently stated that he has prepared extensively for the upcoming tournaments and is fully ready to take on the challenges ahead. Rahul's commitment and dedication to his craft are evident in his statement, where he confidently claims that he is prepared to bat and keep wickets for 50 overs.

KL Rahul tore a terrible tendon as a result of a thigh injury he sustained during the IPL earlier this year, causing surgery. He has not played any sort of cricket post IPL, he has also missed the series against Ireland and was benched for first two matches in Asia Cup 2023 due to niggle.Rahul had finally made his way into the Squad as Iyer injured, fans will be expecting a big innings from him.
