The cricket-crazy fans are in for a treat as the next three months promise lots of action. Cricket has made its return to the Asian Games and the Indian Cricket team is going to be part of the event. Both the men's and women’s cricket teams will be playing with an eye on winning the gold medal for India.

The Indian women’s cricket team has made their way to China as they departed on Sunday afternoon. Guangzhou in China is hosting the 2023 Asian Games which begins on 23rd September and ends on 8th October.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Co leave for China –

The Indian women’s cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur has departed for China. The 19-member squad will see Smriti Mandhana be the deputy skipper for the tournament. India along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have already been given direct entry into the quarter–finals.

Sports Authority of India (SAI)took to Twitter and wrote “The girls of Indian Cricket are ready to rock at Asian Games 2022. In an exclusive ceremony tonight, the team received an enthusiastic send-off from @SAI_Bengaluru. Can’t wait to watch all of them make India proud”

The Indian team will be participating in the Asian Games for the 1st time as far as cricket is concerned. Pakistani women won the gold medal in both the Asian Games editions of 2010 and 2014. The men’s events have seen Bangladesh win the Gold in 2010, while Sri Lanka won it in 2014.

Women’s cricket begins on the 19th of September while the men’s tournament begins on the 27th. Indian women’s team is slated to be in action on 21st September in the first quarter-final game. The finals will be played on 25th September.

Standby list of players: Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, and Saika Ishaque.
