West Indies have been deprived of astonishing talent who could shine at the international stage in the recent past which is one of the reasons why their cricket has been on a decline for the past few years. But after some wait they seem to have found a superstar in the making in the form of Shamar Joseph who has taken the cricketing world by storm ever since he burst into the international arena.

Shamar Joseph played a pivotal role in West Indies breaching Australia Gabba fortress twice in three years after he picked 7 wickets in Australia’s 2nd innings. West Indies defeated Australia in Brisbane to level the series by 1-1 and Joseph shined in Australia’s final innings by picking 7 Aussie scalps despite being taken off the field a day before as he got hit by a lethal Yorker while batting.

Joseph’s valiant effort and never-say-die attitude won the hearts of many cricket fans worldwide and turned the youngster into an overnight star. He not only got praise from all around the world for his brave show but also managed to get signed up by Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. It was Joseph’s first big break in league cricket.

But everyone knew that it was only the start for Shamar Joseph and even bigger opportunities awaited him. IPL is the pinnacle of league cricket in the world and Shamar Joseph has finally got his maiden IPL call-up as the replacement of Mark Wood who has been ruled out of the forthcoming season of the IPL. Shamar Joseph will be seen donning the Lucknow Super Giants jersey in the 2024 edition of the IPL.

He has been picked up by LSG for 3 crores which is a significant sum for a foreign young player. Starting from a remote village of the Caribbean Islands as a security guard to representing the West Indies and now playing in the world’s biggest cricketing league has been quite a journey for the young Shamar Joseph. However, the fans are expecting that it is only the start and would want the youngster to bring more laurels to the West Indies.
