The Mumbai franchise continue to strengthen their fast bowling unit as they have added another seamer into their arsenal ahead of the new season. Australia’s left-arm seamer, Jason Behrendorff returns to the Mumbai franchise after a gap of 3 years.
Notably, he was part of the franchise in the 2018 and 2019 title-winning seasons and now will be making his return for the 2023 season. With Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer already in the side, the addition of the Behrendorff could make Mumbai a force to be reckoned with. He will give a different dimension to the fast bowling unit.
The franchise took to its Twitter handle to announce the return of the Australian to the team for the new season.
“𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘 & 𝗚𝗢𝗟𝗗. AGAIN! Back to apli Mumbai after 3 seasons. Pace, swing & experience Jason Behrendorff, lai bhari”, Mumbai wrote in the caption.

The Australia seamer plied his trade for Bangalore last year. However, Mumbai acquired his services following a successful trade with the red brigade on Saturday. Also, he played for the Chennai outfit in the 2021 season as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood.
Talking about his T20 international cricket career, he has, so far, made 9 appearances for Australia and has managed to claim 7 wickets. Besides, he has played 5 matches in the Indian T20 League and has as many wickets at an economy of 8.68.
The Mumbai franchise endured the worst season last year in their Indian T20 League history. The franchise finished at the bottom of the table, winning only 4 matches out of 14. In the absence of Jofra Archer, the team lacked strength in the bowling department.
With him likely to be available this year and Jasprit Bumrah also being fully fit, one can expect Mumbai to make a stellar return this season. They are the most successful franchise in the history of the league, having managed to lift the trophy on 5 occasions. Rohit Sharma and Co. would be eying on their sixth title ahead of a new season.
