Considered to be the future of Indian cricket, Shubman Gill is currently with his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans (GT), but anyone can't be blamed if he doubts the opening batter's mind is in the world of fantasy. The youngster recently made headlines when he was named the Hindi and Punjabi voice for Spider-Man's Indian avatar in the new Marvel blockbuster.

Gill, who voices the character of Indian Spider-Man, Pavitra Prabhakar, in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, once again caught the attention of fans during a Q&A session as part of the film's trailer launch. The 23-year-old was asked to choose cricketers, who could voice other Marvel characters.

When asked who would fit as the voice for the Venom, he named his idol and the legendary cricketer Virat Kohli. "Virat Bhai," the 23-year-old said with a smile. Then asked if he could choose another cricketer to voice the lead version of Spider-Man, Gill named young Indian opener, "Ishan Kishan."

Gill attended the trailer launch of the new Spider-Man sequel in Mumbai and even struck the iconic Spider-Man pose on a car while dressed in a green shirt and white pants with shades.

Speaking about the film, Gill said that Spider-Man is his favourite superhero. “I have grown up watching Spider-Man, and he is one of the most relatable superheroes. Getting to be the voice of our Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar, in the Hindi and Punjabi languages was such a remarkable experience for me. Already, I feel superhuman. I am eagerly anticipating the release of this movie,” he said.

Will Gill and the team deny RCB a playoff entry?

Meanwhile, Gill is having a fantastic season in the ongoing IPL, having scored his maiden century in the league against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 16. His 58-ball 101 knock and Mohammed Shami’s stunning performance with the ball helped GT beat SRH by 34 runs and become the first side to qualify for the playoffs.

After his spectacular performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Kohli posted an Instagram story praising the right-handed batter. “There’s potential and there’s Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you,” Kohli wrote on his Instagram story.

Gill and Kohli will come face-to-face in the final league match of IPL 2023 as GT and RCB clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 21. A win is essential for Kohli and his team to enter the playoffs.
