There will be two Indian Teams on show as one of them will be playing in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Another Indian Team will turn up for the Asian Games which will be played in China. Some news has come in that Umran Malik will replace Shivam Mavi who has picked up an injury. The Indian Cricket Board will likely make the official announcement in some time.
The Indian Team for the event will have a two-week preparation camp in Bengaluru before they depart to Hangzhou. According to a report from the Indian Express, the Indian management was very keen on having Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Yash Thakur in the mix but he missed out because of injury. Yash Thakur has played for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Shivam Mavi last played for Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League 2023
The Asian Games will take place between September 28 to October 8. The Indian Team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the side will be coached by VVS Laxman. Sairaj Bahutule will be the spin-bowling coach. Hrishikesh Kanithkar will be the assistant coach and Munish Bali will take up the post of fielding coach. The team has the likes of Rinku Singh and others who will be a part of it.
Umran, who has amazed everyone with his speed in the IPL and the Indian side, has not had the best last couple of months. Umran last represented India in the T20Is against West Indies. He did not have a good tour as he could not get his name in the wickets column after having bowled six overs. Umran burst onto the scene in 2020 in the IPL when he was first tried by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
When it comes to the Indian Team, they are currently in the Asia Cup and are on course to make it to the final. After wonderful victories against Pakistan and Sri Lanka the Rohit Sharma-led side will want to try and get their hands on what would be their eighth Asia Cup title.
