In the last year or so, the India Cricket Team has been plagued by injuries to a lot of players. From Jasprit Bumrah to Shreyas Iyer, a lot of players have gotten injured due to many reasons. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board is reportedly furious with the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Apparently, this happened after Iyer's back injury reoccurred during the fourth Test against Australia

For those who don't know, the right-hander was ruled out of the New Zealand series at home in January this year due to a back injury. He made his comeback in the ongoing Test series against Australia. However, during the fourth morning of the going Ahmedabad Test, he didn't come out to bat. Meanwhile, an Indian Cricket Board official is unhappy with the development.

“It’s frustrating for sure. And it’s not the first time that a player has recurrence of an injury. We should have learned from Bumrah but we did not. Shreyas should have been eased into the team and not rushed to play grinding Test cricket. Hopefully, he will be fit for the ODI series. But it’s difficult to say anything at this point. He had scans and is currently under the medical team’s observation,” a senior India Cricket Board official told InsideSport.

Shreyas Iyer is doubtful for the initial part of the Indian T20 League 2023

Meanwhile, the Kolkata skipper in the Indian T20 League is looking doubtful for the tournament's initial phase. With the tricky nature of the injury, he is doubtful for the ODI series against the Aussies. Also, the board would be looking not to rush him this time around

“Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play? He has gone for scans and the BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him,” the board said in a medical update.
