England’s fan group ‘Barmy army’ is known for their love-hate relationship with Indian fans. They never miss out on an opportunity to irk Indian fans by trolling Indian legends. The group was once again at work as they wished the former Indian captain MS Dhoni on his birthday. The wicket-keeper batsman turned 41 on Thursday as wishes poured in from his fans all across the world.

The fan group took to Twitter to share the image of England’s victory over India in the 2019 ODI World Cup and wrote “Happy Birthday MS, some amazing battles over the years.”

In the match, India’s approach during the final overs of the innings left many people scratching their heads as they played defensively when the required rate was getting out of hand. The game is only the second instance in ODI history when India lost a match while Dhoni was not out at the crease.

The tweet didn’t go well with numerous Dhoni fans as they replied to the ‘fan group’ in their own style i.e. by showing the numerous achievements of the ‘captain cool’ against the England team. Here's a look at some of the reactions.

MS Dhoni became the captain of the Indian team during the inaugural 20-20 world cup and went on to lift the trophy. He further led India to many tournament victories such as the CB series in Australia and Asia Cup. In 2011, MS Dhoni added another feather in his cap by leading India to victory in the ODI World Cup.

Dhoni won another major trophy as captain in 2013 when he led the team in their victorious Champions Trophy 2013 campaign. The Indian team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and eventually lifted the trophy.

Dhoni will be seen in action once again playing for the Chennai Franchise in the next year’s Indian T20 league. Dhoni is also the second most successful captain in the league with four titles to his name. Now that MS has retired from international cricket, people eagerly wait for the league to see him in action once again.
