Star India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has tasted victory yet again, this time by the side of his wife Rivaba Jadeja who won the Jamnagar assembly seat in Gujarat polls. With over 57 percent of votes, BJP’s Rivaba defeated AAP candidate Karshanbhai Karmur who got just 23 percent of the votes.
Speaking to the media after her win, she said, “Those who accepted me happily as a candidate, worked with me, reached out and connected to people- I thank them all. It’s not just my victory but of all of us.”
Rivaba had joined Bhartiya Janata Party in 2019 and was fielded as its candidate for the Jamnagar assembly seat this year. Jadeja hails from an interesting family of Congress supporters. His sister Naynaba Jadeja for example is a congress leader and also campaigned for the party candidate in Jamnagar.
Our family members can do whatever they want- Naynaba Jadeja
She has however come out and claimed to be just a person with a differing opinion and not an enemy.
"My love for my brother stays the same. My sister-in-law is a BJP candidate as of now. As a sister-in-law she is good," she had said. "In our family, we have freedom. Our family members can do whatever they want to do. They have the right to do that," added Naynaba Jadeja.
Talking of Ravindra Jadeja, he has been out of the team with a knee injury sustained in Dubai at the Asia Cup 2022. Since then the southpaw has missed the 20-20 World Cup in Australia as well and continues to go through rehab for his injury.
While injured, Jadeja was seen campaigning for his wife in Jamnagar as well. The 34-year-old was recently announced to be retained by the Chennai franchise for the upcoming Indian T20 League in 2023.
