In what has been a lackluster performance by the Indian Team last year after they crashed out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022, they also suffered back-to-back ODI series defeats against New Zealand and Bangladesh.

Team India Head coach Rahul Dravid along with skipper Rohit Sharma is slated to meet the top brass of the Indian Cricket Board on January 1 to conduct a detailed review of the team's performance in the World Cup and also chart out a roadmap for the future.

VVS Laxman who is the Chief of the National Cricket Academy is also expected to be present at the meeting. The meeting will be held in Mumbai and Chetan Sharma, the Chairman of Selectors has also been told to attend the meeting.

The New Selection panel is likely to be formed in early February

The 20-20 World Cup's performance review will be conducted and after this, the plans for World Cup 2023 will be discussed. Elaborate plans will be laid in action for the 50-over World Cup and beyond. The tournament will be held in India for the first time since 2011. Board President Roger Binny is also expected to attend the meeting.

The Members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) met board secretary Jay Shah. The CAC consisting of Ashok Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik, and Jatin Paranjpe met on Friday to chalk out plans to list the candidates for the new selection committee. The new panel will likely be formed in early February.

The old selection panel which consisted of Chetan Sharma, Sunil Joshi, Debashish Mohanty, and Harvinder Singh was sacked after India’s 20-20 World Cup debacle against England when India lost to the Three Lions at Adelaide by 10 wickets.

India won their last assignment in 2022 which was a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. They whitewashed the Bangla Tigers in Dhaka. Their next assignment in Test Cricket will be a four-match Test Series at home against Australia.
