India, after sealing the moiling T20I series against South Africa, will march on to the ODIs. The latest addition to the Indian squad is Mukesh Kumar, the bowler who plays for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. Shikhar Dhawan, who led the Indian team in the ODI series against West Indies, is all set to wear the captaincy hat yet again.
On the other hand, South Africa will look to avenge India for the defeat in the T20I series. While Men in Blue will compete with a second-string team in the ODI series, the Proteas is all set to take on team India will a full-strength squad. Here are the five players to watch out for in the upcoming ODI series:
1) Shikhar Dhawan
Dhawan looked in blissful form in the ODI series against West Indies and Zimbabwe. The skipper will look to replicate the same form in the upcoming series and will look to win it for team India.
In the series against Zimbabwe, Dhawan gathered 154 runs at an average of 77 and bagged one fifty to his name. The left-handed batter will make the most of the opportunity and hope to cement his place for the upcoming 50-over World Cup in 2023.
2) David Miller:
David Miller looked in fiery touch against India in the recently concluded T20I series. The batter also scored a century to his name in the second T20I on October 2 which India won by 16 runs.
Miller can be threatening in the ODI series as well and is one of the frontrunners to seal the Player of the Series award. The southpaw averages 41 in the ODI format and his familiarity with Indian grounds might come in handy.
3) Sanju Samson:
After being dropped from the 20-20 World Cup 2022 squad, the Indian batter led India A in the ODI series against New Zealand A. However, Samson played a few handy innings in the ODI series against West Indies and his 54 in the second ODI on July 24 is a prime example of it.
Samson might get the opportunity to play in all three matches and also make an impact with the bat. The right handed-batter will go down as one of the players to watch out for in the series.
4) Kuldeep Yadav:
The left-arm wrist spinner is all set to represent India after the Zimbabwe series played in August and will look to create havoc right from the first game.
The bowler has 112 wickets in the format and his records prove that he can bring something special to the table. In addition to it, the bowler also has four 4-wicket hauls to his name.
5) Aiden Markram:
The right-handed batter is one of the best finds for South Africa and is a future prospect for the team. Albeit he averages only 28.57 in the ODIs, the 28-year-old can come up with handy innings when needed.
Markram will a player to watch out for in the entire series and looked in decent form in the recently concluded T20I series against India. The batter has four fifties to his name in the format and will aim to score his maiden three-figure landmark against Men in Blue.
