After losing the first test at Hyderabad by 28 runs, India made a strong comeback in the 2nd test match at Vizag and is currently on the cusp of winning the 2nd match. However, the current spirited England team is also not one who could go without a fight and is currently lingering at 245 for 7 while chasing a mammoth target of 399 runs in the 4th innings.
It has been an enthralling day of play so far with both the teams showing fighting it out till the last ball. While England started the day in their renowned aggressive manner and kept attacking the bad balls for runs, the Indian team were also on their toes and kept getting crucial wickets at regular intervals to keep England in check.
Ravi Ashwin has been the pick of the bowlers for India so far with 3 wickets to his name, whereas for England Zak Crawly was the shining light who carried on with his good form and played a brisk innings of 73 runs including 4 boundaries and one six.
Ravi Ashwin’s offbeat celebration on Bairstow’s wicket
While everybody was expecting England to succumb to the pressure of chasing the mammoth target of 399 runs England showed resistance in their batting effort which at times frustrated the Indian players which was seen during the celebration of Johnny Bairstow’s wicket.
Johnny Bairstow was adjudged out LBW on a sharp swinging delivery by Jasprit Bumrah that tailed in sharply after hitting a crack. Bairstow decided to take a review but was finally adjudged out on the umpire call. But more than the dismissal what caught the eyes of the viewers was Ravi Ashwin’s reaction to the decision.
After Bairstow was adjudged out by the Third Umpire, Ravi Ashwin went past Bairstow flashing his celebration to his face which caught Bairstow by surprise and led to a reaction by the batter. Watch the incident here:
Everyone got a start in the England batting line-up but none of them wasn’t able to convert it into a big hundred which could lead them to a commanding position in the match. The match is currently hung in balance while it is very much still in favour of India and will require a herculean effort for them to win the test match.
