India is in a commanding position against England on Day 4 of the 2nd test as the visitors have lost their sex wickets while writing the piece and they still need 200 runs to win the match. India has had some brilliant individual performances in the match which have got them on the cusp of winning the 2nd test and levelling the five-match series 1-1.

Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone of the match for India by hitting a sensational double-ton on the first day which was followed by Jasprit Bumrah’s fiery 6-wicket haul in England’s 1st innings that helped India in getting a sizeable lead of 143 runs in the 1st innings.

But the most satisfying performance for the Indian team would be that of Shubman Gill who finally woke up from the slack and hit his 3rd ton in Test Cricket. Gill was going through a lean patch in test cricket and this was his first 50-plus score in the last 2 innings which must have rejoiced many Indian fans as well.

Shubman Gill’s freaky injury

But it was only short-lived after the fans realized that the youngster had not taken the field on Day 4 of the test match due to an injury on his right index finger. The Indian Cricket Board informed the Indian fans with a tweet on ‘X’ about the blow that Gill suffered on his finger. The tweet stated, “Shubman Gill hurt his right index finger while fielding on Day 2. He won't be taking the field today.”

Gill got hit on the finger while fielding on Day 2 after which he came into bat on Day 3 and hit a comeback hundred which clearly shows that the injury is not that serious and the move of Gill not taking the field on Day 4 is just a precautionary measure to not let the injury aggravate. There is a gap of 10 days between the 2nd and 3rd test at Rajkot which is another good sign for Indian cricket fans as it will give Shubman Gill ample time to recover from the injury.
