England is up against a dominant Indian team in a gruelling Test series. Although they have already lost the five-match series by 3-1 with one Test left, it has been a hard-fought contest between the top test nations. If only England could have held onto some crucial moments in the series, the result could have been a bit different.
The defeat against India is England’s first series defeat in Tests since the duo of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took over the management reign and despite their aggressive brand of cricket, they only have one Test series victory to show which they got against Pakistan at their home turf. After that, they only managed to draw the Ashes on their home turf and now lost the series to India at their home.
England players seen playing golf in Chandigarh
The fifth and final Test match between India and England is drawing closer, set to take place in Dharamshala on March 7th. As the teams prepare for this crucial encounter, the English squad is utilizing the break between the fourth and fifth Tests to unwind and rejuvenate.
Led by star wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow, some of the English players have embarked on a self-funded golf trip, taking advantage of their free time in Chandigarh. While some of their players are playing golf in Chandigarh, some of the players have decided to spend their spare time in Bengaluru, where the WPL is also currently taking place.
This golf excursion serves as a strategic move by the team management to allow the players to relax and recharge before the high-stakes Test match. Among those participating in this recreational activity are notable players like Mark Wood, Ben Stokes, Shoaib Bashir, and Ben Foakes.
Despite India already clinching the series, the fifth Test in Dharamshala will not be taken lightly by the Indian team as they would like to solidify their position in the WTC points table. On the other hand, England aims to salvage pride by putting up a strong performance and potentially securing a consolation win.
