Ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022, Australia will tour India for a three-match T20I series. The matches will begin on September 20. In a big blow for Australia, the likes of Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh will miss out due to injuries.

The team released a statement saying that the trio will be ruled out of the India series. The statement further revealed the inclusion of Nathan Ellis, Daniel Sams and Sean Abbott as the replacements for the three cricketers. The injuries, though, are minor but Australia don't want to take any risk, given that the upcoming T20 World Cup is not far away.

David Warner will miss out on the series and will rest at home to manage workload. The absence of the trio might haunt Australia in the bilateral series. However, it is understood that the team is focused on defending the 20-20 World Cup 2022 rather.

“The injuries to Marsh and Stoinis emerged during Australia's north Queensland ODI series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand, but Starc is a late exclusion from the tour after a scan on his knee today in Sydney,” the statement read further.

Australia will look to win the T20I series against India

Speaking of the series, Australia and India will lock horns in the first T20I on September 20 at Mohali. Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur will host the second T20I, while Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host the final match of the series.

This will be an important series for the Men in Blue as they come after a poor performance in the Asia Cup 2022. A series against Australia can come as a blessing in disguise as they are the defending champions. India, on the other hand, will look to get off to a great start. With Jasprit Bumrah returning to the squad, the team will look to threaten Australia.
