Due to the overcast skies over Vizag, Steve Smith chose to win the toss and bowl first in the second ODI of the ongoing series between India and Australia. With Shubman Gill's wicket coming off the third delivery of the innings itself, Mitchell Starc quickly demonstrated that his captain's choice was sound. Starc successfully pulled Gill outside of his box, and as Gill extended his hands to play a shot over point, the ball fell into the hands of Marnus Labuschagne, who was in the ideal position.

How did the other Indian batters fare in the first innings?

The 33-year-old left-arm bowler then bowled his best over of the game in the fifth over, taking two consecutive wickets. He initially beat Indian captain Rohit Sharma with bowling from outside-off that took a significant edge before Steve Smith snatched it at first slip.

Starc demolished the Indian batting order by dismissing KL Rahul and Shubman Gill. With a 22-run partnership for the sixth wicket, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were confident in getting the hosts back on track. But in the 20th over, Nathan Ellis struck out both men, dropping India to 91/7.

After wrapping up India's innings by dismissing Mohammed Siraj with a scattershot delivery in the 26th over, Starc returned and completed a five-for. The hosts scored just 117 runs in 26 overs thanks to his five for 53, three strikes for Abbott, and two for Ellis.

In the run chase, they completely crushed the bowling. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, the two openers, quickly struck their half-centuries. The Australian openers destroyed the Indian pace bowlers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj on a pitch where Indian batsmen had trouble adjusting to the seam moment of the Australian pacers. When there was no turn available, Rohit Sharma went to his specialists Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

This was India's heaviest defeat in terms of balls and it was not only against Australia but across other teams as well. This record was previously set in this format by New Zealand. The Indians had a bad day since they were not even in the game. Australia has now tied the series and both the teams would be heading to the Chepauk for the last game of the series, which will provide for another exciting cricket match between the two teams.
