Almost 90,000 people turned up to witness the evergreen spectacle between India and Pakistan on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. It turned out to be a great match as the Men in Blue managed to win the match on the back of Virat Kohli’s heroics. Simon O'Donnell, the former Australian cricketer, who was in awe of the attendance, said that it was an unbelievable event and also hinted at a big development that could take place in the upcoming days.

Commenting on a Test match between India and Pakistan, O’Donnell said that there might be talks happening or might happen for a Test match in MCG between the two heavyweights. Further, the former Australian said that a tri-series might take place between India, Australia and Pakistan.

It was magnificent sort of stuff: O’Donnell

Joining millions in the hopes for a bilateral match between India and Pakistan, the former Australian said that there might be some developments going ahead and added that a Test match between the two teams at MCG could be on the cards.

“That was extraordinary. That game itself is the one that's held the tournament up so far, people keep referring back to it. There were 90,000 at a neutral venue, there was extraordinary emotion, the scenes of the game, the tightness of the game, the pressure,” O’Donnell said on SEN Radio.

“It was magnificent sort of stuff, to the level that I can say there will be discussions being had, or there are discussions being had to play a Test match here. There's also the possibility of a triangular One-Day series between India, Pakistan and Australia or a Test match between India and Pakistan. My word there are in the wake of this <20-20 World Cup clash>. There are already discussions taking place,” said the 59-year-old further.

Recently, the Indian Cricket Board’s secretary Jay Shah confirmed that the Indian team will not board the flight to Pakistan to take part in the Asia Cup 2023. Amid all the chaos, it remains to see if the board would give a nod for a Test match at MCG against Pakistan.
