After getting hammered in the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia have made a sensational comeback in the third Test at Indore as they first demolished the Indian batting line-up and then took a 47-run first innings lead.

The hosts were bowled out for 109 in the first innings, thanks to the brilliant spells from Nathan Lyon and Matthew Kuhnemann. In reply, the visitors lost four wickets but are well ahead of India with 156 runs on the board. Steve Smith and Co. will resume the Day 2 with six wickets in hand, targeting a lead of at least 150 runs.

A total of 14 wickets fell on the first day, with the Australian spinners picking up seven wickets in the first session of the day. India lost captain Rohit Sharma first for 12 runs despite getting two lives in the very first over of the innings. The hosts then tried to build a partnership but none of the batters could stay at the crease for long as Aussie spin duo Nathan Lyon and Matthew Kuhnemann were having fun at Holkar Stadium.

Indore Test to end on Day 3?

It looks like the third Test will have a similar ending on day three as it did in the first and second Tests at Nagpur and Delhi. There were many comments about the quality of the pitch, with many criticizing the curator for making such a "poor pitch".

In one such reaction, Vikrant Gupta, managing editor of Aaj Tak / Sports Tak, shared his disappointment with the game saying, "Poor pitch. Just like the earlier ones."

The sports presenter added in his tweet that the players are unable to compete against the top-class spin.

Gupta wrote, "Poor pitch. Just like the earlier ones. But, even this poor pitch in first session of Day 1 wouldn’t be as bad as Day 4 or 5 of earlier times on better surfaces: those times the batsmen had better skills? Perhaps Yes. Playing top-class spin is a diminishing art in India."

Vikrant Gupta is active on social media and usually shares his views and opinions on games on his Twitter handle.

Here's how Twitter reacted to Gupta's comments about the indoor pitch and India's batting collapse:
