Meg Lanning, the captain of Australia, will captain the Delhi team in the Women's T20 League, which kicks off on March 4 in Mumbai. Lanning has led Australia to a record four T20 World Cup victories, including the most recent one, which the team won last month in South Africa after defeating the home team in the finals.
Lanning has participated in 132 T20 Internationals, scoring 3405 runs, including two century and fifteen half-centuries, at an average of 36.61 and a strike rate of 116.37. She has captained Australia in 100 T20Is, more than any other female player in the format.
What did Meg Lanning speak about upon her announcement as Delhi captain?
She spoke to the fans in a video posted by the Delhi franchise. She spoke about how it is a huge honour for her to captain a side in the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League.
She said, "It's a very proud moment for me, firstly to be involved with Delhi Capitals and then to lead them. It's about enjoying yourself, getting the best out of yourself."
She then discussed the idea of how the league will take a huge turn in the growth of Women's cricket across the world. She said, "WPL is a massive moment for the sport, it's the logical next step and makes a lot of sense. Cricket in India is people's lives and the fact that WPL is up and running, and to be involved in something like this, is amazing. It's only going to grow in the coming years."
After Alyssa Healy for the UP franchise and Beth Mooney for the Gujarat team, Lanning is the third Australian player to captain a Women's T20 League team. India's captain Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Mumbai franchise, and Smriti Mandhana will lead the Bangalore team.

The set of female Cricketers in India doesn't even have 5 Captain Material that they have to seek for Foreign Players.😏
