The Indian men's cricket team fought off a valiant Nepal batting effort to win the game by 27 runs. This win now means that Team India has qualified for the Semi-Finals of the tournament. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a memorable century to kick off the 2023 Asian Games campaign for the Indian men’s team.

Ruturaj Gaikwad the Indian skipper had no hesitation in batting first after he won the toss. Young left-arm spinner Ravi Sai Kishore was making his international debut for India. There were tears of joy from the Chennai lad when the Indian national anthem was played.

The Indian fans had thronged the ground to witness the clash. Nepal on the other hand was coming into the game on the back of some impressive performances. Nepal had already set the 2023 Asian Games on fire in the game against Mongolia.

India hold their nerves to win despite Nepal’s valiant fight 

Batting first after winning the toss India scored 202 for 4 from their 20 overs. Indian skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the team a very good start. The pair added 103 runs for the first wicket in just under 10 overs. Gaikwad was the first to go when he was out for 25.

Nepal fought back with two more quick wickets to dent the Indian charge. Tilak Varma scored took 10 balls to score 2 runs before being dismissed. Jitesh Sharma yet another India debut was out for 5 runs off 4 balls.

There was no stopping Yashasvi Jaiswal though, the 21-year-old took a single to reach the three-figure mark. This was the 4th fastest T20 ton for India as it came in just 48 deliveries. Jaiswal was dismissed for 100 when he fell to Dipendra Singh caught by Abinash Bohara. Rinku Singh then took over as he smashed 2 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 37 runs off 15 balls.

Chasing 203 to win Nepal gave a good fight till the end and more than made a match out of it. Dipendra Singh top scored with 32 runs while Sundeep Jora (29), Kushal Malla (29), and Kushal Bhurtel with 28 were the other contributors. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi picked 3 wickets each for India while Arshdeep Singh picked 2 wickets with the ball for India.
