West Indies bounced back against India in a strong fashion in the three-match ODI series to level the series 1-1. West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl. India made a strong start courtesy of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. Kishan played a stroke-filled innings of 55 runs with six fours and one six. Shubman Gill made 34 off 49 balls with five fours. Gill was the first one to walk back to the dressing room as he went for the big hit against Gudakesh Montie and was caught by Alzarri Joseph.
Ishan Kishan was the next man to go as he went for a cut shot of Romario Shepherd and was caught by Alick Athanaze who took a blinder. India went in and shuffled their batting order. Sanju Samson came in at three. But he also went quickly. In a shock promotion, Axar Patel came in at 4. It looked like India wanted to keep the left-hand right-hand combination going. But West Indies came back with quick wickets which meant that India suffered a middle-order collapse.
Gudakesh Montie took 3-36 in his 9.5 over spell for West Indies
The Indian batters were not able to break free of their rut. Suryakumar Yadav was the only one who showed resistance of some sort. The right-hander made 24 off 25 balls with three fours. But he was out to Montie off Athanze when he tried to up the ante. A hapless batting performance from India meant that The Men in Blue could muster only 181 in 40.5 overs.
For West Indies, Montie and Sheperd picked up three wickets each in their respective spells. In the second innings, Kyle Mayers provided them with a good start. He hit 36 off 28 balls with four fours and two sixes. Against the run of play, he was caught by Shardul Thakur off Umran Malik. Then when Brandon Kings and Athanze fell soon after, India had an opening at 72-3.
But the Men in Blue were unable to make further inroads as Shai Hope smashed an unbeaten 63 off 80 balls with two fours and two sixes. Keacy Carty also made an unbeaten 48 off 65 balls with four fours to provide good support. The West Indies chased down the target in just 36.4 overs.

But your changes faced a defeat. This is not proper coaching I think.

Another ODI WC has arrived and yet no improvement in team's approach. BCCI lost the opportunity to groom perfect 15 players in last 4 years and still on experiments phase. #INDvsWI #IndianCricket

His performance and captaincy are curse for ICT.
The only thing he can do perfectly is licking Dhoni's a$$. 😭#HardikPandya #INDvsWI pic.twitter.com/Y9HTkGeQLn
Dravid experimenting with tons of players with with world cup just a few months to go. Does he realise there's not a single batsman in the team who is consistently scoring in ODIs. #SackDravid #INDvsWI pic.twitter.com/2JwdHENLHS

Indian cricket is so pathetic because of poor politics and IPL's money.

Rohit has to uplift the teams ability like dhoni use to do. Dhoni had some magic in his aura and environment.#INDvsWI
On one hand we have #Ashes2023 going on between #ENGvAUS. Arguably one of the best. On other hand @BCCI has just lost a #ODI against a team who hasn't even qualified for the world cup ( no disrespect) #INDvsWI
