Former Pakistani skipper, Imran Khan, recently, spoke about the comparison between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam ahead of the upcoming World Cup that is scheduled to be played in India later in the year. Both Babar and Kohli have impressive statistics across formats. They are highly accomplished batters and have their own strengths.
Fans often compare Babar with Kohli as he made several records in his career. Both batter are considered as two modern-day legends of the sport. However, when Pakistan’s World Cup-winning skipper was asked about the comparisons between both batters, he said that both Babar and Kohli belong to the same class.
"I haven't recently seen cricket, but I believe that Virat Kohli and Babar Azam belong to the same class. Babar Azam can surpass Virat Kohli; he is that good, from what I have seen," Imran said as quoted in Hindustan Times.
However, despite playing from rival countries, both Kohli and Babar have an immense amount of mutual respect for each other. In an interview during the 2022 Asia Cup, Kohli heaped praise on the Pakistani skipper and also recalled his first meeting with him during the 2019 World Cup.
"Babar is a very nice guy. I have always had good conversations with him. I am not sure about kinship since he is much younger to me, but there is respect. There is always respect."Kohli said
"He was always keen to learn. He spoke to me after our game in the 2019 World Cup. I have always said he is keen to learn, and there’s no surprise that he is playing like this in all formats of the game. He is obviously a very talented player,” he further added.
'I do not enjoy T20 cricket that much...' - Imran
Speaking further, Imran also said that he doesn’t like T20 cricket and added that he is a fan of Test Cricket. He also mentioned India’s loss against Australia in the recently ended World Test Championship final at the Oval, England.
"I do not enjoy T20 cricket that much in terms of batting. I like Test cricket. I saw on mobile that Australia won the World Test Championship after defeating India," Imran said.
