On Monday, Pakistan cricket star Shadab Khan announced his marriage to the daughter of former leg-spinner and head coach Saqlain Mushtaq. In a post on social media, the all-rounder shared the news and requested privacy for his family and wife.
"Alhamdulilah today was my Nikkah. It is a big day in my life and start of a new chapter. Please respect my choices and those my wife's and our families. Prayers and love for all," said Shadab in his post. He also included a request to keep his family members "out of public light" in his note.
As soon as the news of Shadab's marriage broke, wishes and congratulations poured in from his Pakistan cricket teammates and other friends and well-wishers. Among the many messages, a comment by Pakistani southpaw Imam-ul-Haq particularly caught the attention and went viral.
"Many congratulations Shaddy. Worried for Bhabhi (sister-in-law) though, Allah Pak unko himmat dein (God give him the power)," wrote Imam-ul-Haq.
Shadab Khan, is a young and talented cricketer who has made a name for himself in the Pakistan cricket team. He is a right-arm leg-spinner and a right-handed batsman. He made his international debut for Pakistan in April 2017. He is known for his aggressive and fearless approach on the field. He has been an asset to the team and has helped Pakistan win several matches.
Mushtaq, a legendary figure in Pakistan cricket
Saqlain Mushtaq, Shadab's father-in-law, is a former Pakistani cricketer and coach. He is considered one of the best spin bowlers in the history of Pakistan cricket and is known for pioneering the "doosra", a delivery that spins in the opposite direction to a typical off-break. He is currently the head coach of the Pakistan A team.
Pakistan currently lost 2-1 to New Zealand in a 3-match ODI series at home after performing poorly against England in the Test series.
