Chris Gayle, fondly known as the 'Universe Boss', is one of the best in the shortest format of the game. He doesn't usually shy away from calling him 'the best' but all in wit. His fans, albeit agree that he is indeed the best batter in the shortest format. The southpaw almost retired multiple times only to make a comeback in the maroon jersey. His participation in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia later this year still remains a puzzle.

In the meantime, the 'Universe Boss' will be trying his hand at The 6IXTY, a new collaboration of the Caribbean Premier League and the cricket board of West Indies. All the teams from the Caribbean Premier League will take part in the league to be played in T10 format. The fans never really kept calm once it was announced that the legend will also play in the new tournament.

Chris Gayle has now told ESPNCricinfo that he is one of the best bowlers in the world. Although he did not mean it, this hilarious comment has paved the way for him to hit the headlines once again.

"You know what? My bowling is natural. Definitely, I have to bowl. I'm the greatest off-spinner of all time. Murali (Muttiah Muralitharan) won't contest that for sure. I have the best economy, not even Sunil Narine can come close to that,"  he told.

I'm really excited to be back in the field: Chris Gayle

The 42-year-old opined that he was all excited to make a comeback to his favourite sport. The West Indian has amassed a total of 14562 runs in T20s and has 81 wickets in the format.

"I'm really excited to be back in the field. I missed it. I'm like a kid again, looking forward to the first game. For my debut, I'll have to get back in shape. I'm still in shape but just a li'll prep here and there to get in that mindset of playing cricket," he added.

The Caribbean did not shy away from acknowledging the bowlers of the modern era. He credited their skills and said that it's difficult to tackle their strategies. "Bowlers nowadays are creative. They've got a lot of variations and they make it challenging for the batters. Of course, the batting part is more dominant in shorter forms but the bowlers have a lot of skills to make it uncomfortable for the batter," he concluded.
