Suryakumar Yadav is on a different planet at the moment. He is batting like a dream. He was India’s second-best batter after Virat Kohli in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup where he had scored 239 runs from six games at an average of 59.75 and a strike rate of 189.68.
He smashed the New Zealand bowling attack all over the place en route to his 111 off 51 balls which came in the 2nd T20 against the kiwis. This is his second hundred in T20I cricket. He had earlier scored a magnificent 117 against England which came in the 3rd T20 in June.
Suryakumar explained his rationale behind how he took the game deep, in the 17th over of the innings. He was on 57 off 35 balls before he took off on the last 24 balls of the innings and smashed 54 off the last 16 balls. He has been India’s X factor because of his 360-degree play. He hits different areas of the ground and generally, those areas are utilised less in a general sense.
