Dinesh Karthik has been in fine touch and has been consistent for Team India. His excellent performance for the Bangalore team in the Indian T20 league earned him the national call-up. Dinesh Karthik scored a massive 41 off just 19 balls in the first T20I against West Indies. Team India is currently touring the Caribbean for a five-match T20I series.
Dinesh Karthik was one of the members of the commentary panel last year when India toured England. He had, at the time, said that he hopes to make a comeback for India soon.
Men in Blue are currently leading the series against West Indies 2-1. Ahead of the fourth T20I, Karthik told the reporters that he’s loving the team environment.
“I think I have said it a lot, and I will keep saying it, I think this is one of the best team environments I have been in because of the consistency and continuity they seem to be giving to players. They are not judged on an everyday basis, and they are given time; they are given the opportunity to fail. I think it is very important to give players the opportunity to fail and then move on to the next player,” Karthik told reporters.
The 37-year-old wicket-keeper thanked Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid for backing him. He added further that one has to give to chance to fail and then move on to the next player. When asked about the pressure he is facing due to the inclusion of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, the former replied politely.
“Pressure is a privilege at this point in time. As a cricketer, as a sportsperson, it is something which is given only when you are playing at the highest level, and people expect certain things from you, so I am happy,” Karthik added.
Dinesh Karthik might be added to the squad for the Asia Cup 2022 and the 20-20 World Cup 2022. He has been significant in that he has left no reason for the selectors to drop him. The Tamil Nadu-based cricketer will look to shine in the upcoming fourth and fifth T20Is.
