The inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League is set to begin on March 4 as the franchises have picked their favourite players in the auction held on February 13. Franchises were seen breaking their banks to acquire T20 stars from around the world during the marquee event in Mumbai. Out of the 449 players who went under the hammer, 87 players took home WTL contracts.

There is no doubt that the players who did not get picked by any franchise for the mega tournament will be disappointed. England star batter Danni Wyatt has now opened up on not being picked for the inaugural edition of the WTL.

The opening batter said that she was disappointed after being unsold in the franchise T20 league. "I mean, it was a very heart-breaking couple of days," Wyatt said in a press conference.

The English cricketer was part of the Women's T20 Challenge and said that she loves to play in India. However, after admitting her disappointment, Wyatt added that her focus will be on the ongoing World Cup.

"I was very disappointed, obviously, having been a part of the IPL Exhibition matches and I love playing cricket in India. It's one of the best places to play cricket. So, to not even have one bid was pretty heartbreaking. But that's life. And my focus is purely on this World Cup now and, yeah, the sun still comes up the next day, doesn't it?"

Wyatt further said that she just wanted to stay in her hotel room after knowing that she went unsold.

"It was a very, very weird day. I found out I went unsold just before I got off the bus. So, I had to go and play against Ireland, which wasn't ideal timing, but that's the way it is. And yeah, I got back to the hotel and just wanted to stay in my room," said Wyatt.

"I was literally heartbroken. And yeah, the girls really got around me, which is really nice. Obviously, some people got what they wanted. Some people didn't. But yeah, I was just so proud of the way everyone handled it. I certainly felt a lot of love and yeah, I think it's a credit to everybody in our squad. You know, even the staff as well, just the way they got around everybody was fantastic to see."

Meanwhile, England Women will face South Africa Women in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup on February 24. The winner of today's match will have the final encounter with Australia, who defeated India by 5 runs in the first semi-final. England are in fine form as they thrashed Pakistan in their last match for 114 runs. Danni Wyatt's 33-ball 59 and Nat Schiver-Brunt's 40-ball 81 led England to a massive score of 213.
