'I told papa that you can relax now' - Rinku Singh on his journey of Triumph after IPL 2023

Star India batter Rinku Singh, after getting selected in the Indian squad for the Asian Games 2023 spoke about constructing a cricket ground. Rinku has had an excellent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), including his last-over triumph where he smashed five sixes in the last over against Gujarat Titans. Now the left-handed batter is ready to shine for Men in Blue in the Asian Games and Ireland Tour. 

The 26-year-old Indian cricketer from Uttar Pradesh has a kind of Bollywood movie story because he has come a long way. Singh has certainly developed a certainty in him, and now, after the initial uproar in his career, he is thinking about giving back to the society where he came from. The GT’s star batter is planning to open the small hostel adjacent to the ground in Aligarh (UP), where he started his journey. The hostel is likely to give facilities to 115 underprivileged students to fulfil their dream of playing cricket under his coach. 

From LPG deliveries to cricket glory

"Humara kaam sirf run banana hai. Match milega toh accha karenge. Main zyada sochta nahin hoon. Present mein jeeta hoon. Uparwala baas dekhle. Apne haath mein toh sirf mehnaat hai. Mehnat karte rahenge, dekhte hai kya hota hai" (My job is to score runs. If I get an opportunity, I would try to do well. I don't over-think. I like to live in present. Hope Almighty keeps blessing me. Working hard is in my hands and I will do that and see what happens), Rinku said to PTI. 

"I told Papa that you can relax now. But he is still hawking cylinders. He still loves that job. At one level, I understand his part also. If he starts relaxing at home, he will get bored instantly. If someone has worked all his life, it is difficult to tell him to stop unless he wants,” he further added. 

Rinku, in his teenage days, used to support his father and deliver LPG cylinders to fulfil his dream of playing cricket. After his success in IPL 2023, Singh is now a young talent and has been financially stable to take on his parents' responsibilities, but his father, as he explained, still enjoys doing that work irrespective of people's opinions. Speaking of the Ireland series, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the side, while Ruturaj Gaikwad will be his deputy. The five matches T20I series will start on August 18 in Dublin.
