Sourav Ganguly has been hitting the headlines ever since the news of him quitting the president post of the Indian cricket board leaked out. During a Bandhan Bank event recently, Ganguly hinted at his exit saying that he would go on to do something bigger in life.

Roger Binny, the renowned player from the 1980s is expected to take the throne and lead the board. As it stands, the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee put on a request to allow Ganguly to apply for the chairman post of the Cricket’s governing body.

There were reports from Indian Express claiming that the Indian cricket board is not ready to support the outgoing president for the world body’s chairmanship. Amid this, the West Bengal CM made a request to the Central Government to interfere and allow the left-handed batter to file a nomination for the prestigious post.

“I request the PM to make sure Sourav Ganguly is allowed to contest the Cricket's governing body election. He's a popular figure which is why he is being deprived. Request GoI not to take a decision politically, but for cricket, sports...He is not a political party member,” Banerjee was quoted as saying by ANI.

I will move on to something else: Ganguly

The Indian giant and former captain said in a Bandhan Bank event recently that he would go on to do bigger things in life. The outgoing president said that one cannot be an administrator forever as he hinted at a possible exit from the post that he holds in the Indian cricket board.

“I have been an administrator and I will move on to something else. Whatever you do in life the best days are when you played for India. I have been president of Indian cricket board and I will go on to do bigger things. You can't be a player forever, you can't be an administrator forever. It's been great doing both,” Ganguly said at the Bandhan Bank event recently.

It remains to see if Ganguly would go back to holding a post in the Bengal cricket association or if he would file a nomination for the post of chairmanship in the world body. As of now, the era under Ganguly is reportedly coming to an end and the Indian fans are eager to know if there will be an official announcement for the same.
