Pakistan mounted a strong comeback against South Africa as they defeated the Proteas by a margin of 33 runs via the DLS method-affected game at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This was a great result for the Men in Green as they got their second victory in a row.

The men who got the win for Pakistan were Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed who scored 52 off 22 balls with three fours and four sixes and 51 off just 35 balls with three fours and two sixes. This allowed Pakistan to get to a massive total of 185-9 in their 20 overs.

Shadab was not done yet as he picked up 2 for 16 in his two overs, which helped Pakistan restrict South Africa to just 108-9 in 14 overs. The leg spinner produced a Man of the Match performance to keep Pakistan in the race for the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

The former Pakistan pacer was very upbeat about Pakistan’s victory in a very important clash against South Africa. He said he was elated to see this result unfold and was happy to see his prediction on the Pakistan team not come true. Here is what he had to say-

Pakistan have proven that South Africa are beatable- Shoaib Akthar

"What a great comeback from the Pakistan cricket team. Well done! No one was able to beat South Africa, but Pakistan have shown they are beatable. I really, really hope our prediction goes wrong and Pakistan somehow try to qualify for the semi-finals," Shoaib Akhtar said on Thursday.

This win earned Pakistan four points from four games, and it also pushed them to the third spot on the points table. This ensures that Pakistan can still breathe as it keeps them in the hunt for the semi-finals of the World Cup.  It was a come-from-behind win as they were tottering at 95-5 before an 82-run stand put them back in the hunt. Pakistan have always done well against South Africa in World Cups and the win on Thursday was no exception.
